Nickmercs Thanks Ninja “Opening the gates” for Streamer Contracts

In the wake of the massive YouTube signings that took TimTheTatman and DrLupo from Twitch, Nickmercs said it was actually Ninja that opened the gates for these kinds of huge moves.

TimTheTatman and DrLupo leaving Twitch are the biggest YouTube signings since Courage and Valkyrae, but Nickmercs says if it wasn’t for Ninja, streamers like them may never have hadthe chance to get the bag from other platforms. And with Nickmercs having signed a life changing deal that could potentially see him follow TimTheTatman and DrLupo over to YouTube as well, it certainly caught people’s attention.

Nickmercs pointed out that before Ninja left Twitch for Mixer, no big streamer would have really even dreamed of leaving the cash cow that is Twitch for another platform. The risks were so big, and no one was really sure what the rewards were, so a big streamer like Ninja leaving Twitch to try and make it on a different platform gave a lot of streamers the guts to make similar moves.

And while Ninja’s move to Mixer may not have been a success in terms of viewership or growing his brand, it was certainly a massive payday, and it also showed you could just go back to Twitch if things didn’t work out the way you hoped. Only in Ninja’s case, he went back with an extra 30 million in the bank. So once the next big name to jump to YouTube is announced, especially if it’s Nickmercs, just remember that without Ninja none of this may have been possible.
