Billionaire Elon Musk and Shivon Zilis, directors at Neuralink, are said to have welcomed a set of twins late last year.
According to court documents obtained by Business Insider, the twins were born in December 2021 through surrogacy, just weeks before the US billionaire welcomed his second child with his ex-girlfriend, ca. Dr. Grimes.
The documents show that Musk and Zilis filed a request to change the two children’s names to “have both the father’s and mother’s last name as part of the middle name”. The application was filed in April in the courthouse in Austin, Texas, where the babies were born and was approved by the judge a month later. The twins’ names were not released to protect privacy.
Zilis, 36, was born in Canada and studied economics and philosophy at Yale before joining IBM. She currently serves as a director at the neurotechnology company Neuralink founded by Elon Musk.
According to her LinkedIn profile, Zilis has been involved in special projects at Neuralink since May 2017, specializing in researching how to create human-machine interfaces. She is considered a rising star in the AI world and was named on Forbes’ 30 Under 30 and LinkedIn 35 Under 35 lists last year.
Zilis met Musk in 2015, through an event of the artificial intelligence nonprofit OpenAI – also founded by Musk – and is one of the youngest members of OpenAI.
Musk is an advocate of multiple births. Earlier, the US billionaire said it was necessary to encourage an increase in the birth rate, while emphasizing that “human civilization will collapse” if people do not have more children. If the above information is confirmed, Elon Musk has a total of 10 children, including six children with his first wife Justine (in which the first son died when he was only 10 weeks old), two children with singer Claire Boucher, ie Grimes , with current twins.
In May, Musk faced a backlash from one of his children. According to the Guardian, Xavier Alexander Musk, the billionaire’s transgender son, has filed for a name change to cut ties with his father.
